Tonight.........

Finding myself without any plans on a Friday evening and after being slightly mocked for my little driving sessions, I decided to go for a walk along Southend sea front tonight. It was freezing!!!!! Beautiful but freezing!

I thought I could get the best of both worlds, by have a drive down there with my music full blast and then peaceful, reflective prayer time whilst walking along the sea front.

There is something truly amazing about the sea late at night, the tranquility of the rolling waves cascading on the shore and the wind blowing against your face - it was a true time-stopper. People were rushing past getting ready for their nights out, while I just stood and stared out onto the vast sea.
Walking further down the amusement lights brought such vibrant colours to the sea and sky - the usual annoying songs playing and the laughter coming from within these places really filled me with warmth and happiness.

Out by the sea, in the cold air gives a brand new perspective on the world. It brings a new level of true awe and thankfulness to God as creator. The tiniest, intricate details He planned. He knows every grain of sand on which I stepped upon. He knows every single person I passed. He guided me and opened my eyes to things I had not come across before.

The walk gave me a real sense of fulfilment.

Christmas is approaching........

Today we put up the church Christmas decorations which was so comical, we had such a giggle and really enjoyed ourselves. It wasn't until I got home that it sank in - it is almost Christmas. Can you believe that we are already in December? Chris and I led our last youth cell till 2008 this evening and it was hilarious with the kids. They are just the greatest bunch of young people anyway, but playing games such as twister with them was just side splitting! Talking to them about Christmas and this time of year was just so thought provoking, they say what the usual teenagers say (actually what the majority of people say!) how they're looking forward to the food, presents and dressing up, on the other hand just simple comments like 'I am looking forward to the carol service', 'I am looking forward to spending time with my family' and 'I am looking forward to spending time away from the commercial Christmas' (how huge is that for a 13 year old to say!!!) 2 Corinthians 4:16-18........

This is the reason we do not give up. Our human body is wearing out. But our spirits are getting stronger every day. The little troubles we suffer now for a short time are making us ready for the great things God is going to give us forever. We do not look at the things that can be seen. We look at the things that cannot be seen. The things that can be seen will come to an end. But the things that cannot be seen will last forever. 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 (New Life Version)

Emma Bearfoot.......

Tonight I am really sad, a good friend of mine from the Royal Brompton died very suddenly yesterday. I went back and read her blog this evening and it really moved me. Do people know if they are going to die? Although she has been unwell, Emma had a heart attack so no one actually could have predicted her passing, yet her last blog talks about life and death, and how you must make the most of life while you have it. It is so moving when re-reading it now she has gone. Even though I have known her for a few years, I never knew she had a blog until I received a comment on mine a couple of months ago. Apparently I touched her because she yearned for a faith and a relationship with Christ, but did not know how to possess one. We have shared some awesome email conversations about life and Jesus. My prayer tonight is she found what she was so desperately longing for...
